Political Career
After the Parliament elections held in 1977 in which for the first time congress was dethroned at the centre emergency was lifted and the ban order on RSS was scrapped. In 1977 for a short while he worked as Baudhik Parmukh of RSS at Patna till he was nominated state organizational secretary of the Bihar unit of Janata Yuva Morcha, a youth wing of erstwhile Jan Sangha group which was merged in the Janata Party.
He was asked to relinquish this responsibility at the end of 1979 and for a brief period he work as RSS Baudhik Pramukh In Patna was assigned another responsibility of State Convener of an organization setup against 'Russian aggression on Afghanistan'. Every political party and social group except the CPI were its member. The then Naxal group represented by Late Satya Narayan Singh, a charismatic ultra-left leader, was an active architect of this committee. The then Janata Party member of parliament Dr. Subramanian Swamy was its National Convener During this period serious debate started on the issues of “Dual Membership” in the Janta Party Between Pro RSS erstwhile Jan sang Group and others opposing simultaneous membership of both the RSS and Janta Party this debate lead to split in the Janta Party and emergence of a new political out-fit namely Bhartiya Janta Party lead by erstwhile leaders of Jan Sangh group in the Janta Party.
In mid-1980 he was asked by Dr. and the than National President of Janta Party Shri Chandashekharan to work with than in the Janta party. Subsequently in July 1980 he was made Bihar State General Secretary of the erstwhile Janata Party. Besides He formed BiharKhetihar Manch to organise the farmers of Bihar of the pattern of Shetakari Saghtana of Maharashtra Lead by Famous farmers leader Mr. Sharad Joshi from this platform he raised the issue of spurious seeds fertilizers and pesticides supplied to the farmers by the apex cooperative institutions Biscoman (BiharCooperative Marketing Union). He also raised the issue of son river water disputes against the violation of 1973 Ban Sagar Agreement among the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh on sharing of son river waters for agricultural purposes. He also raised an environmental issues of establishment of a huge cluster of thermal power projects of around 25,000 MW at singhroli and nearby area of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh at that time he apprehended that this cluster will probe disaster to the environment and became a perineal source of pollution of Rehand river pitch which is a major tributary of river son which caters the irrigation need of large chunk of fertile area in the than Shahabad and Gaya districts of Bihar this cluster of thermal power projects will also pollute the Rehand Dam which water after merging into river son will adversely affect the life’s of the people of Plamu Reason of Bihar which is now in Jharkhand. While working in the Janta party he developed serious differences with NationalLeaders like Syed Shabbudin and He resigned from the post of Bihar State general secretary Janta as well as from the active politics in 1984 July. One more reason for his resignation for the party politics was his difference of opinion with the national party president Shri Chandrashekhar over establishment of a series of Bharat Yatra Trusts which were formed by him after rejoinder on foot journey from Kanyakumari to Delhi. After the relinquish of post of BiharJanta party general secretary in 1984 he formed JP Vichar Manch to propagate the ideal of 1974 JP movement amongst the people latter on he joined full time journalism as freelance journalist upto1993 till he joined Bjp in between he work for the cause of farmers, led the soon canal area farmers action committee in which stalwarts like Vashishtha Narayan Singh, Shri Shivanand Tiwari and others were associates. He also assisted the Nitish Kumar in raising the farmer’s causes of Nalanda district. He was instrumental installing life size bronze statues of Lok Nayak jay Prakash Narayan at the income tax round about, Patna. He was convenor of the JP Pratima Nirman Samiti with members like Shri Nitish Kumar, Shri Shivanand Tiwari, Prof Zabir Hussain, Abdul BariSiddiqui, ShriGautam Shahy rana and others as members. This statue was unveiled by the than Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in1991. At the behest of Sri Jagada Nand singh, he worked as full time non-government member of 2nd Bihar state irrigation commission andcontributed in preparing first water policy of Bihar as the convenor of subcommittee 1 of the irrigation commission.
After a lapse of 9 years of resigning the politics he joined Bhartiya Janata Party in May 1993 at the behest of non-other than the than national president of BJP Shri Lal Krishna Advani in May 1993. Late Shri Kailashpati Mishra & Shri Govindacharya decides the veteran journalist Shri Dena nath Mishra were instrumental in his joining in the Bjp. He was made its Bihar state executive committee member and general secretary of its intellectual wing. Later on he was nominated spokesperson and State General Secretary of the Party. He was nominated BJP nominee in Biennial poll for Bihar Legislative council from assembly constituency in 1998 and was elected Member of Bihar Legislative Council.
He as a BJP spokesperson, for the fist time on Oct 11,1994, exposed the rampant corruption and illegal withdrawals from the state exchequer made in connivance with political persons in power specially in the Animal Husbandary Department. He submitted a 44 point charge sheet against the then Lalu Prasad Govt. in this regard with specific charges but no one in the political and administrative circle, not even the state BJP leaders, was ready to buy his arguments despite obvious indications were emanating from the analysis of Budgetary allotments and supplementary demands sanctioned by the stare Legislature. Later on it was substantiated in January 1996 as a fodder scam which lead to fall of Lalu Prasad Govt and his frequent jail on judicial demand. He was one of petitioners who filed PIL in Patna High Court in which CBI enquiry was ordered nder monitoring of a Patna High Court bench by the order of the Supreme Court of India. He was one who along with Sushil Kumar Modi unearthed the much talked bitumin scam of Bihar and as a BJP general secretary filed a PIL in patna high court and obtained order for CBI enquiry of the scam.He raised several issues of public interest and exposed state Govt. misdeeds as the Bihar state general secretary and spokesperson of the BJP.
He was nominated BJP candidate to contest assembly bye-election from Piro constituency in 1997 but was directed to withdraw his nomination in support of the then Samata Party(now JDU) candidate Sri. Shivanand Tiwary. After that he was nominated BJP candidate in Biennial poll for Bihar Legislative council from assembly constituency i 1998 and was elected MLC. He worked as Chairman of the coordination committee of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar till the bifurcation of the state. He shared the responsibility of co-organsing secretary of Jharkhand state BJP under Sri. Kailash Pati Mishra till 2002 and a member of the National Executive Committee of BJP from 2003 to 2005.
After bifurcation of Bihar and carving of Jharkhand as 28th state on the political map of India on November 15, 2000 he contested 2005 assembly election from Jamshedpur west constituency and was declared elected. He lost assembly election 2009 from the same constituency with a narrow margin. He again contested 2014 general assembly election for the same consistencyand won by margin of plus 10000 votes. He was made a minister in the coming Bjp government lead by Shri Raghubar das he was allotted portfolio of food and public distribution department & consumer affairs department and also parliamentary affairs department he work hard to digitize the department and install digital command and monitoring of food distribution system through POS machine end to end computerization. He work for major policies shift in public distribution system as well as in consumers affairs. He also made notable quality oriented contributions in parliamentary affairs departments to smoothen of functioning legislative assembly by means of meaningfuldialog between the ruling and the opposition groups.
