School & College Days
He received his primary education up to class III at his village primary school. He undertook his upper primary schooling up to class VIII as well as high school education up to class XI at Block Headquarter Itarhi, which was about 5 kms away from his village. He and other children used to commute this distance daily for education on bare feet alongside the bank of the famous Sone Canal and through fields.
He passed matriculation exam with science subjects conducted by Bihar School Examination Board in 1966 and was awarded National Merit Scholarship. For higher education he moved to Patna and took admission in pre-university (Science) at illustrious Patna Science College. On the basis of pre-science result he was selected for admission in Electrical branch of Engineering at Bihar College of Engineering, Patna in 1967 but preferred to study physics in the Science college, Patna. After doing graduation with Honours in physics he acquired master degree in the same subject with spectroscopy as special paper from Patna University in 1970-72 batch.
